Mandercom has a uniquely well-qualified team to handle all aspects of Digital Switch-over and its impact on communal aerial systems.  We work with a network of independent consultants, the primary ones being:

 

Peter Barnett
Peter Barnett is a Chartered Engineer with over 30 years of experience of broadcast transmission and reception technology.  He has worked with the Digital Television Group (DTG), the UK industry association dedicated to the adoption of digital television services, where he chaired the DTG’s Reception Group, which investigated all aspects of satellite and terrestrial TV reception.  The Reception Group was responsible for R-book 5, “Installing Digital Television: MATV and IRS”, a detailed technical resource for the installation industry.

 

Over the last few years, Peter has been closely involved with a number of reception-related studies for the Department of Trade and Industry (see Switch-over Resources).  He has also drafted “Digital Switchover: A Good Practice Briefing” for the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, published jointly by the DCMS and the Chartered Institute of Housing.  This document advises social and private landlords on providing access to digital television services.

 

Mike Cross

Mike Cross is a Chartered Electronics/Telecommunications Engineer with 30 years extensive experience in a number of industry sectors including 10 years in TV/broadcast engineering.

 

As well as a thorough technical background, Mike also has extensive experience of programme and project activities/management including:

 

· System specification

· Preparation of tenders/proposals

· Supplier selection

· Contract negotiations

· Installation project management & planning

 

Mike has been a key technical/commercial player in a number of large national and international programmes involving organisations such as Siemens, NEC, Nokia, O2, Orange, Vodafone, T-Mobile, the European Union, the European Space Agency, British Telecom, Korea Telecom, GE, Software Sciences, Marconi Instruments.

 

Lee Mercer

Lee Mercer is a long term aerial professional with a wealth of experience in the aerial industry both as an engineer and as a senior manager. Until mid-2008 he was employed by Sky Television to head the operational side of Sky Homes, the department that looks after domestic installations.

Lee managed many projects for Sky Homes, ensuring that installations carried out by installers met specifications and were delivered on time and to budget. The number of dwellings covered by upgrade projects he has personally been involved in exceeds 250,000.


As a result, Lee is well known and respected throughout the industry, and is regarded as one of the foremost experts in delivering large scale, long term Digital Switchover projects in the UK today.
